Driving My Own Way!!!
Drove seventy miles,
On a sultry summer day,
Crushing all the fallen trees.
I'm driving against every tiny breeze...
Neither a quarter,
Nor a full value of dollar.
I'm priceless, you dare think me seize.
I'm driving against every tiny breeze...
Ain't a season without me,
Of flowers if you speak;
I multiply the value of all by many degrees.
I'm driving against every tiny breeze...
All yearn to adorn me, when I'm eighteen.
Foregone I am, I cease to be a queen.
Stronger I am, even then, in all my beliefs.
I'm driving against every tiny breeze...
*Dedicated to every woman. We drive and will drive
against everything which tries to suppress us. Cheers to our way of life.
Cheers on being a woman!!!

DeleteHhehe:) Great one! Three cheers to this Saru :):)
ReplyDeleteYeah, three cheers to this one :) :) :)
DeleteNot certain that I grasped all that you tried to convey, Saru, as there seem to be some deeply personal subtexts in there, but loved the way it made me feel overall. On a lighter vein, though I might have always felt intimated by women driving, women driving rock rocks. These lines seem like they were written to be sung as a driving song.
ReplyDeleteYou grasped it rightly and many feel that it should be made into a song. Thanks for reading and gracing this blog.
DeleteSaru, Wish all women have the courage to drive against not only tiny but even strong breeze:) Beautiful rhyming poetry and a lovely tribute to women!

DeleteAnd the picture on the FB was so apt for this poem, wish I could use it. Thanks for reading Bhavana:)
Yeah, the poem actually makes us feel great about being a woman. There should be more of these. :)
ReplyDeleteSure, thanks for reading dear:)
DeleteBeautiful! The way the poem is rhyming, is superb."I'm driving against every tiny breeze..." I want to understand the meaning of this line because breeze is considered to be cool, soothing, pleasant and why the character want to move against tiny breeze, are you talking about less opportunity the women get but they still have the capablity to make something big...
ReplyDelete"Crushing all the fallen trees."-Are you talking about the hindrance women get on their way and they crush all their obstacle and move on ?
I liked these line "Ain't a season without me,
Of flowers if you speak;
I multiply the value of all by many degrees.
I'm driving against every tiny breeze..."
Overall nicely played with every word and plz maintained this rhythm and flow...so I wont have to read Robert Frost.
Keep Rocking!
Actually the word breeze signifies what is perceived to be less important or non existent or as you said cool from male/society perspective. For example, when in Indian households men go out for doing tiny jobs, people think women should be happy as they are getting the comfort of staying at home but still people expect them to be wise. So, irrespective of all the comforts, they grow and they perform.
DeleteYou are very right about the crushing line. And I will maintain the rhyme but you should read RB. Thanks for sharing your views and enriching the experience of blogging.
Thanks Saru for nicely explained everything:)
