Get, Set, Shop!
My mouth waters whenever I read the word 'Sale' in newspapers. Over the years I have developed a kind of friendship with the Sale Season. It is the Spring of my life and when there is no sale, it sounds more like an Autumn. During those autumn days, when how to lift my spirits sounds more like a Paheli, online shopping becomes my guiding light. In true Bollywood ishtyle, it spreads the bandwidth and hum into my ears - Main Hoon Na… And as a Bollywood addict I fall for the fantasy. How could you possibly escape the deals on those sites? Those deals which give Ranbir Kapoor a run for his performance in Rocket Singh and undoubtedly emerge 'Salesman of the Year.' I can't stop clapping on their deals and buying what they offer…
My latest indulgence, most memorable too, which actually left a Diwali (Diwala) impact on my husband's wallet is a tiny book, Macbook so to say. People give fancy words to almost everything these days, you see. A blogger who recently completed a year in blogosphere and having her Engagement Anniversary would need some pampering. Well, I always fantasized entering Apple Store and buying, but sadly, they sell on MRP. Since I have a history of buying things on discount, I dropped the idea. A friend told me the best deals on electronics are always online. I took his advice and searched for deals and voila! I got Macbook Pro at $60 less. So, I went ahead with the deal and bought a Macbook Pro on Amazon.
I was gliding with joy, reading all the shortcut functions of Macbook on internet and waiting for the delivery. After three days of placing the order, I received my package. With utmost care I opened it and held my priced possession. Now, ladies and gentlemen, have my words, you will love Macbook the moments you set your hands on it. I loved the whole experience, placing the order at the comfort of my living room, getting a delivery at my doorstep, that too, at a discount. Then, as a token of appreciation, I planned to write a review of the product on Amazon. I logged in and to my utter disbelief the price of Macbook Pro had further dropped by $40 within 3 days.
I cursed my luck for my timing but later thought of calling Customer Care of Amazon. I explained my concern to them and asked if they could do something as I was losing $40. To my surprise and good luck, they said, as the price was slashed within few hours of receiving the order, they can give me an Amazon Gift Card worth $40 (just to tell you, in US you can return an item within 30 days of delivery for a full refund). I could use the card to buy products sold directly by Amazon, excluding those which are sourced by third party. I was impressed with their service and most important by Amazon's emphasis on satisfying the customer and doing their best in retaining them.
I love shopping on Amazon for few other reasons also:
- Unbiased product reviews by the customers.
- Various filters for narrowing down my search to the desired product.
- Actual product images from different angles.
- Above all, the most competitive prices.
With $40, they have won a customer's loyalty for lifetime and made my experience one of its kind. Though, I ended up spending $73 later to utilize that gift card but when it is raining offers on Internet, why hold yourself back! So, surf the net, fish for the deals and indulge yourself. All you have to do is Get, Set, and Shop!

"People give fancy words to almost everything these days, you see." - LOL at this! :D I'm liking this writing style of yours. 'Sale' and women are so made for each other, we can't help it. Nice post, Saru. Cheers to the subtle humor in it :):)

Cool buy. So very lucky :).
ReplyDeleteSaru...that was enjoyable. I suffer from perennial anxiety disorder when it comes to on-line shopping. Am used to buying books from flip cart n air tickets from makemytrip. Can't think of going beyond these sectors!
ReplyDeleteBut, after reading your article, am getting encouraged!! May God bless that Customer Care Executive, who offered you $40! Congo....
Your Mac looks smart ♥
All the best!!
Ah, I just love this!! I shop most of my things online and I would love to buy a Mac!:-)
ReplyDeleteHappy day!
Lucky soul you are .....mam now that what we called as sone pe suhagaa type of shopping :D :D
ReplyDeleteSaru,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and welcome to the Macbook Pro club. I use a Macbook Pro for all my film editing needs as well as for other work. I recently shifted to Mac after two decades of windows use. :)
Did you order the macbook pro to India or a US destination?
Sabyasachi
Hahaha....it was very lucky of you that you got $40 worth gift card.
ReplyDeleteYou experienced a great deal indeed!
But, this post is for snapdeal, not amazon. You might have penned your online experience without mentioning amazon. And, this isn't a prank, let me know if that's not a problem.
You might delete this comment if it affects your post.
All the best dear!
Very well written post Saru.Amazon sounds like a very good option, though i shop very rarely. But if we get value stuff at discount-why not?Your post will make many converts.
ReplyDeleteGood post, Amazon has entered india with Junglee though I find the rates not very competitive.
ReplyDeleteThe comparison shopping actually gives a high.
It is really amazing how a small gesture could go a long long way. Your experience with Amazon is a perfect example of that. $40 might not have been a huge deal to either you or Amazon, but then it has been the root cause of cementing a great relationship. Life is always like that. A very bubbly and interesting post, sprinkled with gentle humor making it a pleasure to read. And I totally agree with you about Mac.. It is just something so different and unique and the experience is just fascinating. The only sad thing about mine is: I didn’t get it in a discount. :D All the very best for the contest. :)
ReplyDeleteSaru, a shopaholic that too on net! Great, but these shopping are changing our lives now:) Best of luck for the contest!
ReplyDeleteGood to read.. best wishes for the contest
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new Mac! Welcome to the Family!

ReplyDeleteIt was good read. Enjoy your Mac and good luck for the contest! :)
ReplyDeleteNice post Di. I blindly trust Flipkart.com for online shopping.. Never tried Amazon though will give it a try soon:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on Amazon. I'm looking for a Macbook too.
ReplyDeleteI love Amazon too! Great shopping experience.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the Mac book pro. It is a wonderful gadget!
Congrats on your new buy! You ahve presented most women's salivating point in terms of the sale season!
ReplyDeleteGood one! That extra $40 was a wonderful gesture from Amazon! Can't believe, though!
ReplyDelete@Everyone - Buying Macbook was a great experience and so was sharing it with all of you. Thank you very much for reading :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting....
ReplyDeleteThat was a good, wise shopping deal! I am not an online shopper, somehow tend to go the traditional way. But your experience is now tempting me to change my track. Meanwhile, you have fun with your new Mac :)
ReplyDeletethat looks like a great experience :)
ReplyDeleteI am surprised they gave you a gift card of exactly $40.. That's great yaar. Because in electronics, there's always a risk of buying early v/s waiting for the price to drop again. In the latter, once you are finally ready to buy the product, you'll realize that a better product has come in the market for a 'slightly' higher price!
ReplyDeleteWonderful review Saru. And all the best for the contest yaar :)
I love shopping online because it not only saves time, but one gets some great deals at times. And sites like amazon are very reliable.
ReplyDeleteAh Saru you are my soul sister with the love of shopping online and the love of all gadgets apple. I am sure you are loving your Macbook. Have lots of fun dear.
ReplyDelete40$ coupon, you are so smart. I would not have thought of calling the customer service. Enjoy the mcbook, Saru :D
ReplyDeleteHave turned into a full time online shopper of late.. and I can honestly say I've never been cheated at any of these sites till date atleast.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, I agree with Ghazala's comment above - I too would never have had the sense to call customer service :)
I try not to shop much online, cos it is so darn easy, I can max my credit card in a day. So, only the stuff I can't go out and find in a shop in Singapore is on my online shopping list!
ReplyDeleteWOW I love Mac...first time visiting your blog...I feel very good when I see girls doing so good...in Indian blogosphere...
ReplyDeletea beautiful story behind the Mac Girl! :) Liked it.. Advanced congratulations :) for?? Saru, keep this as a secret - You are one of the winner, I'm sure..
ReplyDeleteSomeone is Special
Shopping online is a temptation that I cannot resist or curb. Congrats on you new Mac. Mac users always have an edge. Perhaps they think that they have a bite of the Apple created by Steve.
ReplyDeleteFirst time here. Hope to drop be more.
Joy always,
Susan
Amazon is a very good online shopping website. Enjoy your Mac book and post is good.
ReplyDeleteMacbook Saru? that is super! But I don't get it...you are praising Amazon but writing for Snapdeal...I think I need to read this more carefully (still half asleep)
ReplyDelete..congrats on the Apple baby :)
