Chikni Soorat Tu Kahan Tha...
Close to a couple of decades before Katrina sizzled in Chikni Chameli, I associated the word Chikni with Aamir. Wondering? I drooled over Aamir's cute face in Chikni Soorat Tu Kahan Tha... and thought my man would be like him - perfect, witty and clean-shaven at every hour of the day.
Good old teen-age days when we fantasized and felt chiffon sarees can make us Yash Raj heroine. Sadly, truth is stranger spikier than fiction. Yes, Spikier! How would you feel when after a long tiring day, you dress up for your man and he takes pride in flaunting 5 O'clock shadow. Worse, acts as if it doesn't even exist. Helpless, huh!
Ladies, with a never die attitude here's how I embarked on the scruffy journey to convince my man to flaunt a Chikni Soorat even after 5 PM. As you all know - A picture speaks a thousand words, I e-mailed him these pictures yesterday morning.
For starters, even George Clooney doesn't look tempting in the evening stubble :(
**********
Remember, Moustache or Stubble, only Anil Kapoor can carry it off. Either be him or be Mr India, yeah, invisible :D
**********
Wisdom is not in facial hair, it is in the way you keep your ladylove happy. And that way definitely not leads to stubble :)
**********
To make my point very clear to my husband, aka CNBCFollower (yeah, that's his twitter handle), I sent him this link - your kissable factor. You see, I never wanted to leave any stone unturned. I waited patiently for his call or reply but to my utter dismay there was no response, not even a text. I started questioning my wit. I came back from Office drenched in a single thought, ‘Has he read that mail?’ Finally, as any wife would do, I sank into the household chores.
He came home, kept his things on the dinning table and went straight to the bedroom. ‘Oh! Something is definitely wrong!’ I went to check on him and there he was, shaving in the bathroom and an empty shopping bag was lying on the bed. I stepped in the bathroom and couldn’t miss two things; a new Gillette razor and a clean-shaven handsome man. Sorry Aamir, from now onwards I’ll associate ‘Chikni Soorat’ with my husband at every hour of the day…
Signing off with the video of the song that changed my evening. How??? Shhhh…now, that’s another story ;)

ReplyDeleteBikram's
Sadly, but you are what you are, honest and simple. The blogosphere loves you...:)
DeleteGud luck for your contest .. Only if stubble could become a accepetale norm in business meetings .. Sigh !!
ReplyDeleteAh! You sound like my husband here. Thank God, if not for us, you guys shave for Conference Room.
DeleteThanks for your wishes. :)
Haha!! Such a lovely personal touch to a contest post. :)
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I had never heard of this song before this, its hilarious. :D
About shaving off the evening stubble, I am not sure if I can follow that, I am more of a macho beard guy. B-) Sometimes I go on without shaving for weeks, which probably explains why I don't have a girl in my life. Hehe!! :P
All the very best for the contest, Saru. :)
Oh! You should shave more often, not only shaving, grooming as such. Having said that, even I am pretty low on self grooming routine. :P
DeleteThe song is really funny and Aamir is so adorable in it.
Thanks a ton for your wishes Akshay :)
Hehe...:P..it was fun while reading it..
ReplyDeleteI don't like facial hair much either.
ReplyDeleteMe neither...
DeleteWow.. that was a refreshingly fun read. And with lovely little personal touches that made me smile all the way. I can totally relate to why women like their men to be clean shaven. :) And I would wait to read that post as to how that song changed your evening. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are such a versatile writer. The way you come up with these contest posts is just amazing. The topics in general don't seem to be easy at all but you come up with a fascinating post every single time. Though the post is a simple one, I can imagine it is not as easy a task to write it. :)
All the very very very best for the contest. :)
Actually, it is very difficult considering how many talented bloggers you have around you. I wanted to keep it simple this time, well I always keep it simple. I think that's my style of writing.
DeleteThanks for a generous comment and your wishes. :)
Love it! Very nicely written. cheers
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam :)

ReplyDeleteA very happy new year to you, and all the best for the contest!
Great, I somehow feel they look more clean and presentable. I associate unkempt look with either drunkards or mafia :D
DeleteWish you a happy new year and may this year showers all the happiness and success on you :)
A good one!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Saru:)
Thank you so much Amit Sir. :)
DeleteA strong argument for shaving.

ReplyDeleteThank you Ria and welcome back :)
DeleteLol! Your husband is such a nice man to surprise & cheer you with George look. Keep teasing him like this & add fun in your life. ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, what is life without a little spice to it. We have to create moments for ourselves.
DeleteWish you a happy new year Gayatri :)
That was simple yet a fun read.. I used to believe women always love rough looks but this contest has introduced me to reality!
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't like chikni surat look. Shaving is most boring job of this world! But then these days women are making their men crave.. so, I guess WE are not left wid many options but to SHAVE! :) All d best for contest..
Naah, we don't. I mean most of us, there are exceptions and also it depends on whom we are looking at, a Majnu or Mafia guy will look cool in it :D
DeleteYou should shave more often and if your girlfriend/wife is happy, don't forget to thank us...:)
Good luck to you too :)
I loved the twist you gave to it! Wishing the best for the contest and also a very Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading and for your wishes. Wish you the same :)
DeleteAwesome! And no one can beat you in this contest....here's a sure shot winner!!:)
ReplyDeleteA very happy new year, Saru.
Awww...that's so sweet of you. A happy new year to you and your family. :)
DeleteHi Saru,
ReplyDeleteIndeed, either get shaved or become Mr India. You have no idea how boring and monotonous shaving can be but then again, it's like a mark of cleanliness and discipline to some extent. Either stay clean shaved or keep a full grown beard. A stubble won't do.
Here's my take on this topic:

Wish you luck Saru :)

Yeah, it's either this or that, no stubble for sure. I also agree on the cleanliness front. Will surely have a look at it as I love reading what you write.
DeleteGood luck to you too. :)
WOW Saru!!! I so love your writing! Ummahh! :-*
ReplyDeleteAwww...Thanks Namrata, your comment means a lot to me. :)
DeleteHappy New Year :)
Loved the way you have associated the song with the contest. Good Luck Saru. And a very Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the association. Thanks a lot for your wishes :)
DeleteNo hope at all for me Saru :( I grow hair the only place it will grow above the neck :)
ReplyDeleteI can understand Sir...:) We all have our own limitations. :)
DeleteBest wishes!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sir :)
Deletereally loved it. this topic had died out long ago, but is slowly coming to rule the roost both in hollywood and bollywood. you've done more than good in writing a fine piece about it. :)
ReplyDeleteYou know how marketing works and considering how much the general public is effected by stars, Hollywood or Bollywood is the right place to market a product. Thanks for reading and for your generous comment.
DeleteWish you a happy new year. BTW, the video you shared is very insightful and I'll use few tricks here on my blog. Thank you :)
Hahaha...smart girl! A picture can speak a thousand words. And you sent him many!
ReplyDeleteI made sure I didn't leave any stone unturned. 3 thousand words increased my probability :P
DeleteHi Saru!
ReplyDeleteWith this anti-stubble thing going around the blogosphere, I can't think of anything else but a good business for Gillette :)
I agree with comments from Jay Singh, it is either you keep it well shaved or keep a full grown beard, but make sure it is neatly trimmed.
I'm not so sure but don't you think there are women out there who like man with stubble? Different people have different likes and dislikes, and the best is to ask your wife or girlfriend which one she prefers :)
Of course, it's good business for Gillette. Even I agree with him. Actually it is all about having a clean look. When we take extra effort to look good, we expect our men to do the same. Yes, it is subjective too. You should ask your girlfriend/wife :)
Deletenice :)
ReplyDelete:) :) :)
DeleteHahahaha, had a great time reading this post. Loved your creativity of linking the song and pics with your words...:) For me shaving is the last thing. It sometimes so irritating to shave almost every single day while going to office, but I guess now I have to do it..;)
ReplyDeleteI seriously thought women like men irrespective of whether they have beard or not, but I guess I was wrong. Your reply to Zunnur above makes perfect sense, "When we take extra effort to look good, we expect our men to do the same." Hope I find a girl who is fine with in either of the case, with or without beard...;) All the very best Saru, this is a sure shot winner.
LOL! Actually, it's kinda Ok when you are indoors but unkempt look outdoors is a strict no no. BTW, if you can shave for your office, why not for your lady. Now, this calls for a serious protest.:P
DeleteGlad to know that you enjoyed reading it. It was fun writing it too. Writing for contests is fun, you discover a different side of your skills. Thanks for reading and Amen to the last line ;)
lol .. it was fun reading this post ..
ReplyDeleteall the very best for the contest!
Thanks for your wishes but I didn't win :)
DeleteWhat?! Are you trying to say that George C doesn't look drop-dead gorgeous in that stubble?? Uh!!!! I beg to disagree, girl! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! I won't risk disagreeing with a huge fan. :)
