And they let the tear fall...
Fatigued with joy,
Amidst balloons and cries,
He lulled me into sleep.
Holding his first born,
They saw my father weep.
Fallen leaves of the autumn,
Rattle with him in his grief.
Heartbroken, crushed,
They witness his sorrows,
They comfort him as my lover weep.
Better adieu and a better time,
His joy was sublime,
Still he felt a pain very deep.
Giving away his daughter,
Many saw my father weep.
Let it fall, let emotions breathe.
Oh yes, it's true!
Men Do Weep.
Let it fall, let emotions breathe.
Oh yes, it's true!
Men Do Weep.
Lovely... Tears can never leave anyone alone - Not even if he's a man!
ReplyDeleteVery true!
Deleteits a stereotype that is silly yet deep routed... I like the way you have handled it :)

Indeed. Glad you liked it.
DeleteLovely! You beautifully expressed the feelings of the gender which fails to do it effectively more often than not :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful comment. Thank you :)
DeleteSimply beautiful ! Oh yes men do weep even though only rarely. But when they do it sometimes is like a dam bursting bringing out the depth and intensity of their love ! Others weep silently with just a tear or two escaping through their eyes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with opening of floodgates part. Have seen many men in that phase. Last line of your comment is beautiful. Thanks for reading, Sir.
Deleteyes truly said Saru :) A good one :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteHow beautiful Saru. I actually teared up reading it as it reminded me of my father .. Lovely !
ReplyDeleteMany concur with that emotion. Thanks for gracing the blog.
DeleteA Powerful Emotion Captured In Your Powerful 'Words'!
ReplyDeleteWell Done, Saru! :)
Thank you, Poonam. :)
DeleteA very nice one Saru. It is myth that men cannot shed tears. Since it is heavily thrust them them , they refuse to cry even if they want to. Your poem breaks the stereotype.
ReplyDeleteYou said it right, it's forced on them - Real men don't cry. Some stereotypes are suffocating. Thanks for a generous comment.
DeleteSo touching!
ReplyDeleteVery well written Saru!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSo beautiful saru .. I don't know abt my dad but I know hubby did feel the same same way when smera was born
ReplyDeleteAh, wonderful. :)
DeleteI have seen my dad's eyes moist and it has been when it has concerned me. The bond is such I guess. Brought tears to my eyes Saru. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAgree, father-daughter bond is special. Thanks for a beautiful comment.
Deletelovely :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThat was great to read Saru. Men are often accused (stereotyped) of being less emotional, which is not true. The way you expressed the pain of a father touched me emotionally. Thank you dear, for bringing to light, an unstated cause.
ReplyDeleteYeah, men are accused for shedding less tears and women for shedding crocodile tears :P
DeleteGlad you loved the verse which narrated father's feelings. Thanks for reading and many congratulations on the book. :)
The first para was awesome Sari. Reminded me of my own father.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThe feeling of euphoria when blessed with daughter is difficult to fathom, Saru:) This was like watching a painting!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Sir. Guess have to wait for my own children to see how Alok will react. And, many thanks for the beautiful lines.
Deletesuch a wonderful poem, correctly conveying emotions and feelings
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteOh Saru! You made me cry. Yes, men do weep and they did see my father weep. Just beautiful! :-)
ReplyDeleteAwww... Same with my father, Rekha. People say he is over-emotional for me.
DeleteIt's an old cliche which we must now learn to discard, that men don't weep. An apt post to start the change.
ReplyDeleteWell written. :)
Cheers,
Blasphemous Aesthete
Yeah! Now I think men are more open in admitting their emotions. Thanks for SRK and Karan Johar movies. :P
