Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai...
‘A Home is where a story begins…’
I read it somewhere and it transported me to those innocent childhood days when I played Ghar-Ghar with my friends and cousins. I distinctively remember arranging gas stove, utensils and pretended to cook. Later, I got a Barbie Doll House and I insisted on buying cushions, sheets and showpieces for it. I even cried when one of the trophies I won couldn’t fit in the tiny Doll House. Seriously, playing a perfect host in Tea Parties where I was irked by my friends’ lack of concentration in sipping from empty tea cups, sowed the seeds of a Perfect Homemaker in me. So, when I think of creating a HOME, I splash all my ideas and love to create a space that is BEAUTIFUL.
I take my love for Books, Words and Alphabets very seriously and the first thing I use to decorate my home are books. With books, my home is not just beautiful, it reflects my personality. You can stack them neatly in the cabinet or add some souvenirs to create a gorgeous table arrangement. I do it all the time. Now that I am about to take the possession of my apartment, I am contemplating on remolding one of the cupboards into a Nook. A cosy place where I would cuddle with a latest book and a blanket. The word ‘Cosy’ rings only one bell in my mind - Cushions. Without a cushion, sofa looks nude, chairs look bland and bed is just a furniture. More than sheets and curtains, I spend on Cushions. Place them in mix-n-match and I get a perfect ambience for my living room. I throw them on floors, just in front of my bed where I watch TV. It is one of my favorite spots to relax in home. I love cushions in all shapes and colors. The more dramatic they are, the bolder the statement your home creates. I simply love decorating it in all available spaces.
A Special Corner for Chit-Chat and Chai is something I am famous for in my circle. I create a special corner where I sit and relax when I feel not-so-good. It’s my way of adding a space for myself where I unwind with my friends over Chai. I keep it simple, sophisticated and comfortable. Most of the times, my friends just go to this special corner when they enter the house. They call it Adda, our Adda. Nothing makes a home more beautiful than the rush of memories many connect with it. And what is home without a peek into the yesteryears. Photographs - Memories posted here and there is the best way to decorate the home. Pictures displayed on the four walls turn the ‘house’ into ‘home.’ I arrange them in a way that even a cluster of photographs when looked closely tells a story.
The healthiest mantra I follow to make home beautiful is Go Green. I place plants near the windows, in the kitchen and at the entrance of the house. It brings freshness and positive vibes in the house. An ornamental plant in the living room is far more appealing to me than a costly decoration item. It just soothes the atmosphere and brings a dash of energy. Apart from decorating the rooms, I love to keep a small pot in the bathroom as well. Small porcelain pots are my all time favorite. Placed on the basin, it adds a lot of fun even in the bathroom. I am one of those, who love bright sunshine and playful lights with same zest. And for that I always Light up the atmosphere with Lamps and Candles in my home. I prefer floor lamps. They serve twin purpose of accessory and use. On the other hand, candles even if you don’t light, is a great decoration item. I use them with or without candle stand. And no one can deny it’s importance when you want to paint your home Red with Romance.
I Pile up Trunks and Trunks, for Old times sake. I use old trunks as tables or spread a sheet on it to make a small sitting arrangement. For a wise homemaker, it serves the purpose of storage and decor. And the other trunk was something on which I worked really hard. I got this tree trunk when we chopped our Guava tree and I worked on it for a week. I used the sandpaper and scrubbed it till I got the smooth surface to paint it. Now, I have decorated it with a small vase and flowers. I take pride when my hard work is compensated with compliments whenever someone spots this trunk and praises it. Last but not the least, A Welcome Note creates the first impression. With pride, I display quotes to beautifully welcome the guests.
When bloggers were asked how Asian Paints Home Solutions enables them to create a beautiful home, I remembered the experience of my friend Ritika. She lives in Sarjapur, Bangalore and she opted for Asian Paints’ services when she was redecorating her house. I was stumped after hearing that her house was painted in 2 days. Doesn’t it take weeks?… I thought. Well, with expert opinion, variety of choices, quick and professional service and budget to suit our needs, Asian Paints is a one stop shop for all our needs. Be it your living room or adding fun to your kids room, they offer all under one roof. When we landed on their website, my husband straight away went to the Paint Budget Calculator and I went for the Screentest. Nah, not for some movie, just click the link and explore. Remember the Nook I was talking about, I think I will use metallic paint to create it. See, I just started shaping my dream of having a Nook into reality. That’s what Asian Paints Home Solutions does - They shape your dream into reality, a beautiful reality. So, if you are building a new house or decorating an old one, just do it LOVE and STYLE and make it BEAUTIFUL...
