Love Never Dies
Clear all the foliage on the path,
He forgets where I rest.
He walks on familiar roads,
The ones marked with my address.
You cover it with dried leaves,
Dried memories and drowned hope.
Don't blame him, if he can't trace,
Path leading to my dusty abode.
Once a year he comes soaked in tears,
Blaming me, cursing for I betrayed.
Renders the same soliloquy,
Same for the last one decade.
It's October again,
He will rub off layers of dust.
Whisper few memories on the grave of lady,
He once dearly loved.
Eons from now, we shall be again,
Same couple with starry eyes.
I am dead, he will die,
But love, love never dies.
The lump in his throat, his heavy heart,
My stony grave moans for him.
Of all the seasons, he must now get,
His share of spring.
Till then, clear all the foliage,
He forgets where I rest.
He walks where we spent our evenings,
The one with my last address.
How powerful and poignant is that Saru? You are a master when it comes to exploring varied emotions via words. Absolutely loved this one.

ReplyDeleteHi Saru.. finally I am (happily) back at your place :) And I am not even talking about how busy life is (did I just say that!)
It's a very moving piece Saru, and one with a deep thought worth exploring.
'I am dead, he will die' - the line says more than is written. I thought it was one of those poems where a lot is written between the lines, through the play of words. You clearly know your craft pal! :)
Good to see you back, Deepak. And even better to see you here, now that you are a celebrity. So proud of your achievement. Yet to read it though.
