Black Tuesday

Untie that knot
Set him free
Those feet were never at rest
Since he was three

Many unpalatable truths
Smeared on his blood-soaked shirt
A corpse does speak
Without uttering even a single word

Jostle my soul harder
I'm unhinged by this fall
I am looking at his naked feet
Cover them with a warm shawl

He may not feel cold
But a mother can't bear this sight
Those people didn't kill one
The whole family died

Only a handful celebrate
On what humanity mourns
Goodness shall prevail
It never withers with such storms

But do tell his mother
Every heart is bleeding with pain
Many beliefs are uprooted
In today's hurricane

Do...

Untie that knot, set him free
Those feet were never at rest, since he was three
He won't run now, his stride has been cut short
Let him pace towards heaven, he has already suffered a lot

  3. It was a heart wrenching piece. Sometimes I wonder how can anyone hit someone without mercy. Where have we reached with these? Where did we lose our humanity? When we forgot our mother's love? Pathetic !

  4. Saru, it is a tough day today. I can not comprehend what happened. I am just so scared and so much in pain as a parent. It was difficult sending the kids off to school today. Such a heartless world that snuffs out lives of innocent kids. :/

  7. The shame associated with killing so many innocent children is unforgiveable! Senseless, brutal and cowardly act that makes few humans once again act worse than animals!

  9. Your words today have shown the kind of pain that those parents and near and dear ones must be going through in Peshawar, in the options above, I clicked soulful, the actual option should have been soul wrenching. This is such a brutal act and for once Pakistan should step up and stop being a coward.

  10. I couldn't sleep last night- Can't even begin to imagine what the families would be going through. No religion preaches killing of innocent souls - God is going to disown these people who didn't think twice before torturing kids.

Very nicely written, Saru. They were put to rest way too soon. And right --'families' have been killed; that too brutally.

  23. Very sad day for humanity. Of all the people, kids? Terrorism is bad, but why even think of targeting kids.. 16th Dec will be remembered by Indians (Nirbhaya) and Pakistanis (Peshawar school) alike as we were victims on that day..
