If She Were Her Own

She held onto her agony She contained her shrieks Tormented, shattered, orphaned But her bruises do speak Many will gasp in shock It's ruthless and unheard of Mothers soothe our pain Not beat us or keep us under locks She suffered the unspoken Laden with sorrow she still strive I salute her courage As she did survive How can anyone witness and not rescue her? Are we this thick-skinned? Letting a girl die in anguish Silenced, even when humanity is killed Hard to fathom Many questions bother me since I heard Are we good enough for words? And not act when someone is hurt Even with father and (step)mother She was all alone I wonder ever since What if, she was her own?

 A 19 year old girl was being brutally tortured by her step mother. She was beaten ruthlessly and kept under dire conditions. I was shocked to hear that step mother poured toilet cleaner in her mouth and over her face. And his real father witnessed all this barbarism in silence. I wonder, what kind of person does that? And, why people around her never came to her rescue. Though, she is rescued now by an NGO, but I am thinking about all who witnessed this torture - are we only good enough for tall claims on social media? And will justice be served? Read more - Here

    this poem has said everything the torture, the pain that girl girl would have went through... Its very sigh to know such kind of incident coming from various parts of our country. Those people have lost their humanity...

    Honestly, I wonder in what kind of world we living. Your poem expresses the anguish, pain and torture, how people are turning into savage indulging in such a barbaric act.

    Saru Ji , can you tell me what can I do for a child like this ? As I know a girl child of same condition as you mentioned in your post but she is just of 3-4 yrs old and nobody care her besides his Grandpaa.

    A very powerful poem Saru Maam, Its indeed sad to see such terrible incidences happening around :( Atleast this is one of those reported case's of violence ... what about those girls/ladies who face such torture in daily basis and find no other way to escape but end their lives...

    What the step mother did was terrible.. And the silence of her father makes me feel he is under some kind of pressure not to react. Either ways, humanity has gone to the dogs. No wait, let's not insult dogs here (sic)..

    It's actually really sad when ones own parents behave like this :(. The children have nowhere to go in such a case. Your poem has truly captured the torture and the pain the girl must have suffered.

    This one moved me. So poignant.

    That event disturbed me and it happened in my city, that is even more disturbing. Sometimes I wonder at the cruelty people are capable of. It is shocking!

    Such brutal treatment metted out to your own blood n still d silence. Her father should have been her shield.. Such ppl deserve extreme punishment... May that poor soul be blessed with a better life. May no other have to go through such tortures.. May humanity prevail..

फ़ुर्सत में मिलना मुझसे यूँ दो चार घंटे के लिए नहीं  सिर्फ़ हाल चाल नहीं पूछना बातें करनी है तुमसे कई देखना है तुम्हें एक टक शिकवे करने है तुमसे कई हज़ार जब नाराज़ हुए थे तुम मुझसे और जब छेड़ा था मुझे बीच बाज़ार चवन्नी-अठन्नी सा ढोंग मत करना मान लेना मेरे हर कहे को सुबकियाँ से काम मत चलाना बेहने देना ग़र आँसू बेहे तो  सख़्त होने का दिखावा छोड़ आना नुक्कड़ वाले बनिये की दुकान पे सिद्दत से एक बार बोल देना  कि गलती होती है इंसान से तुम मुझे छोड़ गए उसका तुम्हें कभी अफ़सोस हुआ है क्या मैं नहीं तुमसे पूछूँगी  कि मेरे बाद मेरी तरह किसी को छुआ है क्या  ना मैं इस युग की मीरा हूँ  ना हो तुम मेरे घनश्याम बस इश्क़ है तुमसे बेपन्नह मुझे बाक़ी सब कुछ है मुझमें आम  तुम भी सोचते होगे ना  यह तीली सा इश्क़, ज्वालामुखी कब हुआ यूँ समझ लो तुम्हारे जाने के बाद तुम्हारे ख़याल ने दिन में 100 बार मुझे छुआ अब गणित में तो तुम अव्वल हो हिसाब लगा ही लोगे पर सोच के आना जनाब  पिछले 15 सालों का हिसाब कैसे दोगे  तो आना बस फ़ुरसत में  यूँ दो चार घंटे के लिए नहीं  सिर्फ़ हाल चाल नहीं पूछना बातें करनी है तुमसे कई

Last year blessed me, He walked silently into my life. It was Love, That took me in its stride. One evening we walked holding hands, Then, I told him what I felt in heart. He said we were one soul, Who were living in parts. To bring the parts together, We fought with the world and tied the knot. Being one soul, Gave life a whole new spot. Chirping birds, floating clouds, Nature conspired for us. Always swimming against the tide, Life was in an adrenaline rush. This year cursed me, He walked silently out of my life. It was Death, That took him in its stride.       Yesterday his soul was saying, Fearing memories will fade, he can’t move on. He will stay and admire me, Standing always by my side from dusk to dawn.
